A Remembrance Gallery Fundraiser

Join us for the Remembrance Gallery’s “Voices of Our Ancestors” fundraising event in the Expo Hall at the The Washington State Fair Event Center.

Celebrate an incredible milestone as we reflect on our first two years of preserving history, honoring legacy, and building community.

Be part of an unforgettable afternoon filled with inspiration, storytelling, and the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of the Remembrance Gallery. Together, we can preserve these voices and our history for generations to come.

• Date: Saturday, October 17th, 2026
• Time: 1:00pm to 3:00pm – Check-in starts at 12:30pm
• Location: the Expo Hall located at the The Washington State Fair Event Center. Directions and maps are available at our Gallery Location page.
• Ticket are $50 per person and includes lunch & dessert, 2 alcohol or non-alcohol drinks, a takeaway personal recording, a Remembrance Gallery Tour and parking. We encourage you to reserve your ticket as early as possible since this event has limited seating (100 guests).
• We suggest parking at the Gold Lot with entrance at the Gold Gate.

Personal Testimonies

Mary (Tanaka) Abo is a “Puyallup Assembly Center” Survivor. Mary was born in Juneau, Alaska. Following Executive Order 9066, her father, with all the Alaskan Japanese men were separated from their families and sent to Santa Fe, New Mexico. She and her family along with all the others boarded a troop ship to Seattle, bused to the Puyallup Assembly Center and finally boarded trains to Minidoka. Mary graduated from the University of Washington. She and her husband Joe, settled in Bremerton, Washington, and have two children and four grandchildren.

Maya Abo Dominguez is Mary Tanaka Abo’s granddaughter and Yonsei (fourth generation Japanese American) born in Lincoln, Nebraska. She graduated from Harvey Mudd University. As a JACL Kakihachi recipient, she traveled to Japan and Okinawa. She and her sister, Aiko, attended pilgrimages to Minidoka and Tule Lake to honor their ancestors.
